Grace Garden — at Davis United Methodist Church, 1620 Anderson Road — is having its annual Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29.
This is the plant sale’s fifth year and different varieties of vegetables, flowers and drought tolerant plants will be available. Grace Garden volunteers have made up “six-packs” of a variety of tomatoes, herbs, vegetables and flowers. Master Gardeners will also be on hand to answer questions.
The proceeds from the Plant Sale support Grace Garden’s goal of feeding local families who have little. Produce grown at Grace Garden is donated to Friday’s Harvest at Davis Korean Church and Davis Community Meals. These organizations greatly appreciate the donations of fresh food.
Grace Garden’s goal is to reach out to the community not just by helping to feed the less fortunate but also to bring together other community members to join Grace Garden volunteers and help with the garden. Some volunteers come from the Grace in Action program — many have come to help spread bark and compost, prune overgrown trees and generally help maintain the garden. Other congregations have also spent time helping out in the garden, and a number of UC Davis interns have helped in the garden as well.
