Landscape designer Tara Watt and metal artisan Roger Madison will open their Davis garden for public viewing on Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4, from noon to 5 p.m. Visitors are invited to wander the paths and explore the outdoor living spaces to see how this couple has utilized their tree canopy, plant knowledge and creativity to create a dynamic and water-savvy yard.
While most visitors will delight in the colorful display of blooming perennials and enjoy the many seating areas, knowledgeable gardeners will realize that the plantings and natural stonework have been created not only for aesthetic purposes, but particularly to capitalize on plant watering regimens and shade requirements as well as to allow natural re-capture of rain and runoff water.
Visitors also will see how Watt’s whimsical ceramics and Madison’s custom metal are used throughout the yard to provide more focal points — a key strategy for adding interest to lawn-free landscapes.
The free tour is at 1116 Dartmouth Place. Parking is on the street, and guests are asked to give consideration to neighbors. For a map and more information, visit www.tarawattdesign.com.
