Davis High School sophomore Vaughan Chadderton, 15, fastens a bird box — designed to attract western bluebirds or tree swallows — onto a pole with the help of Cari Koopman of Audubon California during a habitat restoration project Tuesday in the Winters area. The Student and Landowner Education and Watershed Stewardship program partnered with Audubon California, which has been working with farmers and ranchers to rehabilitate and revitalize habitat along more than 6 miles of Dry Creek to create a wildlife corridor from the Bobcat Ranch to Putah Creek. Work includes planting trees and shrubs and installing irrigation systems and bird boxes. The project is funded in part by the Nature Restoration Trust Program, a collaboration between Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Fred Gladdis/Enterprise photo
