Clear out your garage, benefit the environment and help students at Harper Junior High — just by dropping off electronic gear you no longer need.
Harper will hold a free electronic waste drop-off fundraiser — with a drive-through lane for busy donors — on Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 4000 E. Covell Blvd. in Davis.
The fundraiser will help fund the school’s Peer Helper program. Peer Helpers coach, tutor, mentor and welcome students and provide help to students in need. Recycling electronic waste also helps the environment.
The e-waste drive will accept monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook personal computers, VCRs, stereo equipment, CDs, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, zip drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, laser and multifunction scanners and fax machines, microwaves, small household appliances such as toasters, mixers and blenders, and vacuum cleaners (with dust bag removed).
The drive is sponsored by California Electronic Asset Recovery, a state-approved electronic waste collector and recycler.
