A walk and a picnic are planned Saturday, May 18, at Lake Solano Park west of Winters.
Volunteers Linda Elkins, Amanda Hicks and Kitty Van Newkoop will lead a walk along the Shoreline Trail, where visitors will see spring flowers in bloom, cliff swallows swirling around a bridge, lake and water birds and lunch at a picnic table with peacocks looking on.
The group will meet at 10 a.m. in front of the Nature Center at Lake Solano Park and Campground, 8685 Pleasants Valley Road, just off Highway 128 near Winters. The Nature Center is at the west entrance of the park. Parking is $5 per vehicle, payable at the east entrance of the park. The walk is free.
Bring a journal, pencils, pens, watercolors, camera and binoculars, drinking water, sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, closed-toe shoes and a brown-bag lunch.
