The Hays Antique Truck Museum is leaving Woodland moving to Reno, says Rich Jenness, president of the board of the Heidrick Ag History Center, where the museum is co-located now, at 1962 Hays Lane.

“The Heidrick Ag History Center will be sorry to see them go,” Jenness says, “but it is also an excellent opportunity for the Heidrick Ag History Center to give the south side of the Museum a little TLC.”

Since the Hays Antique Truck Museum has benefited from local artifacts to stage the truck exhibit, part of the immediate challenge will be satisfying individuals who have placed items on loan at the museum. Only the Hays Antique Truck Museum has access to the records, so local residents who have questions about the disposition of personal property are asked to contact the Hays board president Jim Dobbas at 530-559-0903, 530-823-8815 or P.O. “We are rolling out a new plan and we are brimming with new ideas,” says Lorili Ostman, executive director of the Heidrick Ag History Center. “While we are making this transition, it is a perfect time to try new things.”

The center has applied for a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts to transform its parking lot into a sculpture garden using tractor carcasses and agricultural implements also has begun to collaborate with local art groups. The courtyard is also benefiting from a facelift, she says.

“We are hopeful about another grant to showcase our military collection,” Ostman adds. “That grant would make it possible for us to create an early World War I artifacts exhibit and now we have the space to give this story appropriate exposure.”
