McDougall, a Portland-based Americana/folk-rock one-man band, will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday at Sophia’s Thai Kitchen, 129 E St. in downtown Davis. His current concert tour supports McDougall’s forthcoming full-length album, “A Few Towns More,” set for national release April 10.
Admission Saturday is $5. Following McDougall on stage at Sophia’s are J.P. Harris & The Tough Choices, a Nashville band playing two-step honky-tonk tunes, at 10 p.m. and Miss Lonely Hearts, a folk/Americana band from Winters.
On the title track to “A Few Towns More,” McDougall sings, “The road you chose might take you back to your front door, but it looks like mine’s gonna take me on a few towns more.” Telling the story of touring, human interaction, and sharing in life’s adventures, McDougall sums up his album on the final track, discussing the isolation and loneliness of touring alone, while also singing its praises, meeting new friends and new adventures in cities he plays.
