Helicopters take to the sky at international meet

The Woodland Davis Aeromodelers will host the third International Helicopter Scale Masters fun-fly event Friday through Sunday, Oct. 6, at the club’s flying site on County Road 29, 1.3 miles east of Road 102, northeast of Davis. For directions, visit www.wdarc.org.

The three-day event will showcase world-class helicopters flown by skilled radio-control pilots. There will be demonstrations for rescue, firefighting and military action, and more.

Large quarter-scale turbine and 3D helicopters will be flown, and full-size helicopters will visit, including a Vietnam-era Huey.

Food and beverages will be available at the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds will go to a local chapter of Autism Speaks.
