Holiday music will add a festive air to the Davis Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 10, 17 and 24, under the pavilion in Central Park, Fourth and C streets. This weekend’s musicians include Grace Valley Carolers, Davis High School’s Advanced Treble Choir, Susanna Holland, Peter Franklin Band and Davis Carolers.
Shoppers will find everything they need that’s local, farm-fresh and seasonal for their holiday meals and parties, plus gift ideas for everyone on their list.
New products at the market include fresh chestnuts, mandarins and crab. Many sellers have holiday gift packs available. Giant and petite poinsettias, candy, candied nuts, honey, kettle corn, specialty oils and dressings and smoked salmon will continue to be available at the market throughout December.
“Gift Basket Central” returns to the north end of the pavilion near the oak tree deck. Shop the market for local produce, cheese, jams, olive oils and crafts; buy three items from the market and they’ll be wrapped for free in a complimentary gift basket.
Shoppers can customize a gift basket to appeal to chocolate lovers, nut fanatics, home cooks and bakers. Add a gift card redeemable for a signed copy of “The Davis Farmers Market Cookbook” (Mirabelle Press, $24.95).
Davis Farmers Market shopping baskets and logo wear — aprons, mugs, ball caps and T-shirts — also are available as gifts. Market gift certificates are on sale at the market booth at the south end of the pavilion.
Crafters are at the north end of the market, and they offer a variety of hand-made items including hand-knit scarves, dolls, photography, beeswax candles, lapidary arts, holiday wreaths, fresh lavender and cedar sachets, pottery, metal and wood work, basketry, paintings and jewelry.
On Saturday, Dec. 17, market music will be provided by The Urban Sherpas, Crazy Eights, Davis Chorale, The Souterrain, Music Box and Scott Barnhill.
On Christmas Eve, performers will be Jazzy Horns, violinist Kate Saylor, Grace Valley Christian Center Carolers, Eclectic Garden and Peter Franklin.
