Volunteers for Wreaths Across America will begin placing holiday wreaths on the graves of this nation’s veterans at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road in Dixon.

This year’s event features the U.S. Air Force Golden West Band. The Sacramento Valley National Cemetery Support Committee, Civil Air Patrol, veterans service organizations and citizens are coordinating the event to honor veterans of each branch of the military, the merchant marine as well as prisoners of war and those still missing in action.

The Worcester Wreath Company, through a campaign called Wreaths Across America, began in 2006 donating holiday wreaths in tribute to veterans laid to rest at 131 national and state veterans cemeteries in 2006. Sacramento Valley National Cemetery is one of the few cemeteries that has 100 percent coverage of all gravesites with a holiday wreath.

For more information, call the cemetery administration office at 707-693-2460 or visit www.svncsc.org.
