Pam Houston, director of the Creative Writing Program at UC Davis, will be the guest of Writers on Writing at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stephens Branch Library. She will preview her new, although not quite published book, “Contents may have Shifted.”
Houston is the author of two collections of linked short stories, “Cowboys Are My Weakness” and “Waltzing the Cat”; the novel, “Sight Hound”; and a collection of essays called “A Little More About Me,” all published by W.W. Norton.
Her stories have been selected for volumes of Best American Short Stories, The O. Henry Awards, The Pushcart Prize and Best American Short Stories of the Century.
She is the winner of the Western States Book Award, the WILLA award for contemporary fiction, The Evil Companions Literary Award and multiple teaching awards.
Her new book will be published by W.W. Norton in early 2012.
The talk will be in the Blanchard Room at the library, 315 E. 14th St., followed by refreshments and book-signing.
