Local government leaders will seek public input next week on how to spend federal money on services to help low-income people attain the skills, knowledge and motivation necessary to achieve self-sufficiency.
Public forums are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday in West Sacramento and Woodland. The forums will be conducted by the Yolo County Community Services Action Board, in coordination with the Yolo County Department of Employment and Social Services, to guide programs for the 2011 and 2012 Community Services Block Grant funding cycle.
The forums will run from 4 to 6 p.m. April 5 at the DESS, Community Rooms 1 & 2, 500-A Jefferson Blvd., in West Sacramento, and at the same time April 6 at the DESS Community Room at 25 N. Cottonwood St. in Woodland.
The block grant money “also provides low-income individuals with immediate life necessities such as food, shelter and health care needs,” said Matt Rexroad, who chairs the Yolo County Board of Supervisors.
