FAIRFIELD — A Davis woman was seriously injured when she crashed her vehicle into the back of a pickup truck with two state workers inside on Interstate 505 near Winters on Thursday.
The state workers sustained no or minor injuries.
Rachel Ragatz, 28, was driving a 1998 Toyota Rav4 north at about 12:15 p.m. on I-505 south of Wolfskill Road when she crashed into a Ford F350 operated by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Ford, occupied by two Cal Fire employees, may have been stopped facing north in the center divider, monitoring a grass fire along nearby Winters Road, CHP reports.
Both northbound lanes of I-505 were closed for about 20 minutes while emergency crews attended to Ragatz’s injuries and got her out of her vehicle. She was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center. Both the Cal Fire employees were taken to VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville.
Alcohol and drugs are not thought to have contributed to the crash, CHP reports.
