Invention is afoot at Davis Makerspace

By From page A5 | April 01, 2014

Calling all inventors! Come hear about the process of invention with local inventor Jim Stewart at Davis Makerspace, who will speak from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Davis Makerspace is at 221 G St., Suite 1337, in Tim Spencer Alley, behind Bistro 33.

The presentation will cover topics such as why people invent, the difference between invention and engineering, as well as provide resources for aspiring inventors. Stewart will cover a variety of his own inventions, both trivial and not.

The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session, and show-and-tell. The event is free, with a $5 suggested donation to Davis Makerspace, a nonprofit community organization of builders, makers, hackers and programmers who share an interest in science, technology, art and what happens when those interests collide. They work with hardware and software, metal and wood, and anything else they can get their hands on.
