Davis Central Park Gardens and Ciocolat have paired up again to host the second annual Mother’s Day Tea in the Garden on Sunday, May 8.
Residents are invited to honor a favorite mother in their lives by treating her to a four-course high tea served among the flowers. Garden volunteers have added special personal touches to the event, such as handmade corsages for moms and gifts of plants and seeds.
The heavy winter rains and cool spring weather have brought on a bounty of blooms in the garden, including the spectacular 6-foot-tall tower of jewels, fragrant roses and hummingbird-attracting sages.
“This is a beautiful time to be out enjoying the garden, and participating in this event provides vital support for our ongoing maintenance,” said Emily Griswold, chair of the Central Park Gardens Steering Committee.
Proceeds from the event will provide funding for plants, gardening supplies and public education programs for the Central Park Gardens. The flowers, herbs and other plants in the garden are tended by a group of community volunteers and Yolo County Master Gardeners who have renovated the garden from the ground up.
The high tea menu will include cranberry and white chocolate scones; an assortment of tea sandwiches, muffins and desserts; and fresh berries with Chantilly cream.
Reservations are required, and seatings are available for 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 each and are available at Ciocolat, Third and B streets.
The Central Park Gardens are along B Street between Third and Fourth streets. For more information, call Ciocolat at (530) 753-3088 or visit http://www.centralparkgardens.org.
