The Davis Hoops Basketball Club — a local nonprofit AAU basketball club that attracts players from Davis, Dixon, Woodland and surrounding areas — will host a free skills clinic Sunday for players ages 5-9. The Junior Wildcats event will run from 4 to 5 p.m. at the old Dixon High School gym, 455 E. A St. in Dixon.
The mission of the Junior Wildcats division is to introduce young athletes to the proper skills and technique of basketball while helping to develop a passion for the game, all in a fun and well-organized structure.
“Our goal is, that by introducing them to basketball at an earlier age, they can easily transition to the Wildcats program as they become age-eligible (at age 10),” said spokeswoman Patti Sousa.
The Junior Wildcats program was developed and is run by current Wildcats high school coaches and players.
A four-hour Junior Wildcats camp also is planned from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the old Dixon High School gym. The cost is $65. For more information, call Sousa at 916-835-9602.
