Attorneys practicing in the area of juvenile dependency and delinquency law have formed a group to support Yolo Superior Court Commissioner Janene Beronio’s election as judge.
Juvenile Dependency and Delinquency Attorneys for Beronio will be chaired by longtime Yolo County lawyer Alice Meserve and a steering committee composed of Christina Beede, Sheryl Cambron, Rod Beede and Ava Landers.
“I’ve practiced law for over 30 years in Yolo County, 15 of which has been primarily in the juvenile field,” Meserve said. “Janene Beronio handled our juvenile calendar for a substantial period of time; she was always fair and impartial, was a good listener, started new ways to try to have an impact on our young people — like requiring the 602 offenders to write an essay on how their actions affected others, be it their own family or the victims — all of which she personally read and discussed with the minor.
“She is a good judge of character and I feel would make an excellent judge on the bench.”
Beronio was appointed a court commissioner 25 years ago and is seeking elevation to the position of Superior Court judge.
