Katehi, Hexter to discuss budget with students

By March 4, 2011

Top UC Davis administrators will take part in a student-sponsored panel discussion about the consequences of Gov. Jerry Brown’s proposed budget at 6 p.m. Tuesday in 194 Chemistry at UCD.

Chancellor Linda Katehi and Provost Ralph Hexter planned to take part, as of Friday, along with Vice Chancellors John Meyer and Fred Wood, Associate Vice Chancellor Kelly Ratliff, lecturer Steven Ybarra and Associated Students of UC Davis Controller Joey Chen.

Under Brown’s plan, UCD faces a $107 million budget shortfall. If the governor cannot gain public support for the extension of certain “temporary” taxes, however, UCD may face cuts that are twice as large.
