Kerry’s speech to American Jews to be screened

Secretary of State John Kerry recently spoke to the American Jewish Committee Global Affairs Forum about his efforts to negotiate a two-state resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and called on American Jews to be “part of the great constituency for peace.”

A 35-minute video of his speech will be screened at 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, in the Social Hall of Congregation Bet Haverim, 1715 Anderson Road in Davis, followed by an update from J Street’s Northwest field director Gordon Gladstone. This program is sponsored by Israel Peace Alternatives and J Street Davis, and is free and open to the public.

“No one has a stronger voice in this than the American Jewish community,” Kerry said. “You can play a critical part in ensuring Israel’s long-term security. As President Obama said in Jerusalem, leaders will take bold steps only if their people push them to. You can help shape the future of this process. And in the end, you can help Israel direct its destiny and be masters of its own fate.”
