Korean drama to be screened Friday

“A Brand New Life,” a 2009 South Korean drama directed by Ounie Lecomte, will be screened Friday as part of the International Film Series.

The series is co-sponsored by the United Nations Association of Davis and International House. Doors at I-House, 10 College Park, open at 7:30 p.m. and the film begins promptly at 8 p.m.

There is no charge, but donations are accepted with gratitude to help cover the cost of DVD rental, facilities use and refreshments.

The film, based loosely on the life story of the director, is set in 1975, when the father of 9-year-old Jinhee (Kim Sae-ron) leaves her at an orphanage run by a Catholic convent, in the hope that she will be adopted and have a better life.
