Organizers of Davis’ bid to break its own record for the longest single line of bicycles in motion have put out an urgent call for participants. The parade takes place Sunday morning.
“We need a few more good men, women and children to register to ride in the World’s Greatest Bicycle Parade, or we won’t break our record,” Frank Giustino, chairman of the Davis Odd Fellows’ Bicycle Committee, announced Thursday.
“Last year this time we had so many people register to ride that we had to stop registering days before the event when we hit 1,200. This year, just days before the ride, we are lagging.
“We’re close, but we’re not there yet,” he said.
To register, visit www.worldsgreatestbicycleparade.com by 6 p.m. Saturday, or stop by the Odd Fellows Hall, 415 Second St. in downtown Davis, between noon and 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday.
Those who registered previously online can pick up their registration packets during those hours.
Riders must be at least 7 years old.
