Farm Fresh To You, a local, organic Community Supported Agriculture produce delivery program, invites the public to its farm, Capay Organic, for its last regular farm tour of the year. Guests will each receive a free pumpkin while supplies last.
The tour will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 23800 State Highway 16 in Capay.
Guests will tour the farm on a tractor tram to see winter veggies growing in the fields and citrus starting to mature. Kids can enjoy pumpkin painting, face painting and a composting demonstration. The 4-H petting zoo will include sheep, cows and goats.
“October is one of our favorite months to hold a farm tour,” said Thaddeus Barsotti, chief farmer and co-CEO. “The warm, fall sunshine has replaced the heat of summer, and visitors enjoy seeing what we have in the ground for winter. Giving away free pumpkins to the community is an annual rite of autumn here on the farm.”
There will be an organic produce market stand where guests also can buy farm fresh produce in bulk. All are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon.
Admission is $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and under.
To reach the farm, head north to Woodland then west on Highway 16 through Esparto and Capay. The farm is one-quarter-mile past the town of Capay on the right. Look for the Farm Fresh To You event signs and turn onto the gravel road that leads to the parking area.
