Davis police Officer Stephen Ramos, left, receives the Yolo County American Legion Post 77 Peace Officer of the Year Award on Wednesday from Police Chief Landy Black. Chief Black noted that Ramos “has received numerous commendations from residents of Davis. A winner of the Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service awards, he is always making sacrifices to benefit community and the Police Department.” Looking on are Peace Officer of the Year awardee Joanne Zekman of the UC Davis Police Department and UCD Police Chief Matt Carmichael, who commended Zekman’s “excellence in work on crimes against persons, including sexual assault and domestic violence.”
