Davis Media Access offers a free orientation to its programs and services each month. This month’s general orientation will take place Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the media center, 1623 Fifth St. in Davis.
Staff will provide information about equipment, services, policies and volunteer opportunities. The orientation is the first step towards becoming involved at DMA, and is free and open to anyone who lives, works, studies or volunteers in Davis. No registration is required.
Topics covered will include:
* An overview of DMA’s services, including digital equipment, media training, low-power FM radio, youth media projects, local studio productions, event coverage, and advocacy and information for broader media issues; and
* Information about internships, and training and volunteer opportunities available through DMA.
DMA is the nonprofit community media center whose main projects are DCTV Channel 15 on the Comcast cable system — public access television; Educational Access Channel 17 on the Comcast cable system; and KDRT-LP, 95.7 FM, low-power community radio.
