Interested community members are invited to attend a Nutrition Advisory Committee meeting co-hosted by Davis Farm to School and the Davis Joint Unified School District’s Student Nutrition Services from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. The meeting will take place at the Central Kitchen at the school district’s Operations Building, 1919 Fifth St.

Individuals are invited to attend to learn more about topics relating to school food and to help support children’s nutrition, expand access to quality school meals and enhance the healthfulness of the school food environment.

The first meeting of the school year will include a behind-the-scenes tour of the Central Kitchen, an opportunity to learn about the newly updated federal standards for school meals and what these changes mean for Davis schools, and a chance to share questions, comments, and ideas with Student Nutrition Services staff members.

Future meetings are planned from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Montgomery Elementary School, 1441 Danbury St., and from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Harper Junior High School, 4000 E. Covell Blvd.

RSVP to Nutrition@djusd.net or 530-759-2186 or info@davisfarmtoschool.org or 530-219-5859. Interested individuals also are invited to apply for membership on the Nutrition Advisory Committee by completing an application downloadable at www.djusd.net/district/docs/food-and-nutrition-services-forms/food-and-nutrition-services-forms.
