By From page A3 | May 19, 2013

The 2013 Russell Ranch field day theme is “Harnessing Technology for Agriculture.” Interested local residents are invited to learn about technological innovations in agriculture that can change the way farmers addresses irrigation and nutrient management.

The field day runs from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Russell Ranch sustainable agriculture facility at UC Davis. It brings together researchers, extension specialists, farmers, students and people from a wide range of organizations to learn and discuss sustainable agriculture. Scientists and industry partners will present research results on technology in agriculture, sensors, irrigation practice and nitrogen management.

Certified crop advisers will receive 3.5 units of continuing education unit credits for attending.

Registration costs $10 general and $5 for students; farmers are free (with a coupon code). Attendees should register by Friday, May 24.

Directions to the ranch are at http://russellranch.ucdavis.edu/directions. For more information or coupon codes, contact field day coordinator Emma Torbert at [email protected] or 530-752-5208.
