Lighting the way

Rabbi Shmary Brownstein of Chabad of Davis lights the community menorah on the oak tree deck in Davis’ Central Park on Wednesday. The ritual celebrated the fifth night of Hanukkah and included a community celebration alongside the Davis Farmers Market. Guests were invited to dance, sing and enjoy Hanukkah delicacies, to the accompaniment of live music. “The menorah serves as a symbol of Davis’ dedication to preserve and encourage the right and liberty of all its citizens to worship God freely, openly and with pride,” Brownstein said.
