For some reason, “The Wolverine” can’t catch a cinematic break, despite Hugh Jackman’s engaging work as Marvel Comics’ beloved claw-wielding berserker. This sequel draws its story from a nifty 1982 comic book miniseries by veteran X-Men scribe Chris Claremont, with Wolvie finding love and an old enemy — Will Yun Lee’s Silver Samurai — in Japan.
