The Davis High School Madrigal Singers, a choral group emphasizing music from the Renaissance period, invites junior high students to audition for an outreach program designed by Madrigal director Karen Gardias.

Students chosen to take part will attend several rehearsals under Gardias’ direction, memorize traditional carols to sing, and learn an additional piece that will be performed with the Madrigals at the annual Madrigal Dinners on Dec. 6 and 7 at First Baptist Church in Davis.

Interested students are invited to attend an informational meeting and audition from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the DHS Choir Room (PA-8). Those attending must provide a parent’s current email address and phone number.

Students should be able to hold pitch against a contrasting vocal part. All vocal ranges are encouraged to audition. Students will be required to attend all of the rehearsals, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 22, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, and from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 3.

Families of the junior high singers will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Madrigal Dinners before they go on sale to the public. Orders should be submitted by Nov. 1. Dinner invitations will be distributed at the first rehearsal.
