The city of Woodland will host a public meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at which city staff will present two projects that are designed to improve and enhance the pedestrian environment on Main Street in downtown Woodland. The meeting will be in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 300 First St.
Both projects include reconstructed sidewalks with decorative strips, signal improvements, intersection bulb-outs and street trees on Main Street.
The scope of the Downtown Streetscape Improvement Project is from Third to Sixth streets. This project will construct pedestrian improvements to the signal at Third and Main streets.
The Main Street Streetscape Improvement Project is from Elm to Cleveland streets. This project includes pedestrian improvements to the signals at Elm and Walnut streets. Full sidewalk reconstruction is planned for the section of Main between Elm and Walnut, and installation of a center median with full-grown palm trees is under consideration. From Walnut to Cleveland, the road will be resurfaced and restriped.
Construction is planned for next spring and summer and is expected to last two to three months.
