Mariachi music planned at Davis Community Church

By From page A9 | November 09, 2011

Davis Community Church kicks off its ninth community concert series with mariachi music at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, in the church sanctuary, 412 C St.

“There’s something about the music of mariachi that says celebration!” a church news release says. “Emerging centuries ago from the Mexican state of Jalisco, mariachi music typically includes three different-sized guitars, violins, trumpets, colorful costumes and songs sung in harmony.”

Mariachi Real Monarcas, based in Sacramento, will perform. The $10 suggested donation supports the concert series as well as local and international charitable organizations. For more information, call the church office at (530) 753-2894.
