Tickets are on sale now for the Davis Chamber of Commerce’s January community luncheon, which will feature the 2014 State of the City address by Mayor Joe Krovoza.

The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 415 Second St. in downtown Davis. Tickets are $20 for Chamber members who reserve their tickets before Jan. 6, and $30 for nonmembers and those reserving late.

To make a reservation, call the Chamber office at 530-756-5160, stop by the office at 604 Third St. or visit DavisChamber.com.

“The city of Davis is continuing to make significant strides to create a balanced budget that supports our community’s high quality of life, while ensuring a prosperous future,” a Chamber news release said. “We are faced with several current and long-term revenue and expenditure challenges. However, there are many potential solutions, which Mayor Joe Krovoza will discuss.”

Krovoza’s talk will cover:

* An overview of the city’s accomplishments in 2013;

* An update on the innovation business park;

* The City Council’s program of work and attainable goals for 2014; and

* The status of the city’s budget, including labor negotiations, street maintenance and infrastructure needs, and city staffing levels.

    I guess the price of entry is the first step toward balancing the city's budget.

    Grandstanding and self-promotion, plus good exposure for his Assembly campaign and that is all. What is not mentioned is the Measure I betrayal which "gives" us higher water rates, unneeded water, and more development. Congratulations Joe. You've figured out how to fund your way into the Assembly, all on the backs of Davisites who'll barely notice until far into the future.
