Local residents can get or stay in shape this fall through yoga meditation or zumba classes offered by the city of Davis Community Services Department.
The first explores yoga as meditation in movement, poses flowing with the breath, and awareness centered in the heart and inner body. Students of all levels are welcome and encouraged to explore, have fun and work at their own pace.
The class meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 5 through Dec. 10 (no class on Nov. 23), at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St. The fee is $43, and pre-registration is required.
Zumba is a high-energy class fused with Latin and international music and dance. The routines feature aerobic and fitness training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
The class meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Nov. 5 through Dec. 3, at Barbara’s Dancing Tonight Studio, 1921 Sycamore Lane. The fee is $38, and pre-registration is required.
