By From page A3 | February 26, 2013

A Campbell man suffered multiple broken bones Sunday after being ejected from his motorcycle during a ride through the Capay Valley, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Just after 5 p.m., Edward S. Whitfield, 42, was traveling eastbound on Highway 16 near County Road 85B when his Harley Davidson entered a left-hand curve and drifted onto the gravel shoulder, Officer Bryan Konvalin said. Whitfield lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown.

Whitfield, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by CalStar helicopter to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment of his broken bones, Konvalin said. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
