I was dismayed to see this piece of irresponsible journalism in the Enterprise. It was very poor judgement to print this imbecilic column.

Tanya: I generally really like your column – you are an intelligent, thoughtful and entertaining writer. On this occasion however you come off as a clueless 12-year-old with more phone than brains.

Two of Davis’ best and brightest (and dear friends of mine) were sent to their graves last year because a teenager couldn’t be bothered to focus on his driving. He hit them head-on in a driving rain storm on a mountain road while doing something he clearly felt was more important.

That you seem to think driving while using your phone is nobody’s business but your own is incomprehensible. And driving like that while piloting one of those tiny plastic cars is the utter height of stupidity. If you make a mistake while driving a GEM car there won’t be enough of you left to bury.

Please, for my sake and yours, pull over and park – then pull out your phone. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

Am I reading this correctly? Is your response “Why do you care!?” your example of the civility you complain was absent? You were breaking the law. You were deliberately choosing to endanger others. Citing myriad other driving distractions doesn’t diminish your callous behavior. Public scolding was and is appropriate. Shame on you.
