Davisites will celebrate California Arbor Week, and the 20th anniversary of Tree Davis, by planting trees Saturday along the Moore Boulevard greenbelt in Wildhorse.
State Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, a founding member of Tree Davis, will join the work party, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon. The group will gather along the greenbelt between Raphael Place and Whistler Court.
Davis Ace Hardware is donating some of the trees to be planted and Aspen Pest Management will provide food and refreshments.
No experience is necessary, but participants should arrive promptly at 9 a.m. for the demonstration planting and plan to stay until the project is complete.
Participants must wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toed shoes, and should bring a reusable water bottle. Tree Davis will supply water to fill the bottles as well as tools, but volunteers may bring their own shovels and gloves, if desired.
If the forecast calls for heavy rain, volunteers will receive an email cancellation notice on Friday.
