New York Times bestselling author Gail Carriger will be at the The Avid Reader, 617 Second St. in downtown Davis, on Saturday to discuss her new book for young adults, “Etiquette & Espionage.” Set in Carriger’s popular Parasol Protectorate universe, “Etiquette & Espionage” is the first novel in the Finishing School series for young adults.
The author will speak at 4 p.m. The public is welcome.
“It’s one thing to learn to curtsy properly. It’s quite another to learn to curtsy and throw a knife at the same time. Welcome to Finishing School,” says a news release about her new book.
At Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality, the students learn to finish … everything. Certainly, they learn the fine arts of dance, dress and etiquette, but the also learn to deal out death, diversion and espionage — in the politest possible ways, of course.
