Oil train letter-writing workshops planned

By From page A4 | August 15, 2014

Now is your chance to weigh in on the Valero crude-by-rail project that will bring 100 tank cars of Bakken crude oil through Davis daily.

Local residents are invited to attend one or more public workshops for help writing a letter commenting on the draft environmental impact report. The workshops will be in the Blanchard Room of the Stephens Branch Library, 315 E. 14th St. in Davis, on:

* Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon;

* Thursday, Aug. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m.; and

* Sunday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m.

The agenda includes a review of background on the oil train situation, the California Environmental Quality Act and EIR process, plus some helpful resource materials. Additionally, the group will identify appropriate topics, find evidence and support, and share drafts of letters for feedback.
Those interested should use the printed draft EIR copy at the library, or find it and mailing directions posted at www.beniciaindependent.com under Project Documents and Project Review.
