Jesse Ortiz, a candidate for Yolo County superintendent of schools, has received the endorsement of the Yolo County chapter of the California Teachers Association.

The Yolo County CTA represents approximately 1,400 teachers in all five school districts in Yolo County, including the County Office of Education. An interview panel made of up union members recommended Ortiz.

“Dr. Ortiz possessed more countywide educational experience than his opponent, as well as more local support from elected leaders and constituent groups,” a news release said. “He demonstrated a depth of knowledge of the Yolo County Office of Education and offered a refreshing vision of his priorities and goals once elected.”

Ortiz is a lifelong resident of Yolo County. A professor at Woodland Community College, he is a current member of the Yolo County Board of Education.
