Organizers of the Livestrong Challenge bicycle rides — which are expected to attract an estimated 800 cyclists to Davis this weekend to raise money for the fight against cancer — begin setting up shop in Central Park on Thursday afternoon. Riders will pedal 20, 45, 65 or 100 miles beginning at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, leaving from the park and heading south on C Street, east on Second Street, north on F Street to County Road 29, then west onto Yolo County roads. For more information, see Page A11.

Back home from college, DHS alums Oscar Garibay and Spencer Park meet up to play their trumpets and “serenade the squirrels” Thursday afternoon in Central Park. Garibay is a senior at Sacramento State majoring in music performance and music education. Park is a sophomore at Northwestern University in Chicago majoring in trumpet performance and engineering.
