Peregrine students’ red-dot art featured

By From page A5 | December 12, 2012

Students at Peregrine School will exhibit their “One Red Dot” art show at the Davis Developmental Pediatrics Group as part of the Second Friday ArtAbout this week. To create the art, each student was asked to make a stand-up paper sculpture, hide a red dot somewhere in it, and create a story about what they made.

“This art project draws attention to the notion that children’s art and stories are not merely decorative, but are a window into children’s thought,” explains academic director Lorie Hammond. “Each piece represents the creative process of a child, who has found an imaginative way to solve the ‘problem’ of the red dot.”

Friday’s reception runs from 5 to 9 p.m. at Davis Developmental Pediatrics Group, 760 Fifth St. in downtown Davis. Kids are welcome to create their own art at the reception, and refreshments will be served.
