Lots of dogs and cats are waiting to be adopted at the Yolo County Animal Shelter, 2640 E. Gibson Road in Woodland. Among them is Marie (No. 102168), a 4-year-old female Yorkshire terrier dog with a tan-and-gray coat. Also hoping for a good home is Chiclet (No. 102065), a 10-month-old spayed female Siamese cat with white and brown-striped fur. Fees are charged for licensing and spaying or neutering, if necessary. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays (closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m. each day). For more information on how to adopt a pet, call (530) 668-5287 or visit http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CA283html (click on “our pet list is updated on an almost daily basis”). Sue Cockrell/Enterprise photos
