Lots of dogs and cats are waiting to be adopted at the Yolo County Animal Shelter, 2640 E. Gibson Road in Woodland. Among them is Nina (No. 100206), a 9-month-old spayed female Jack Russell terrier dog with a black-and-brown coat. Nina would do best in a home with no small children, a shelter spokesperson said. Also hoping for a good home is Moe (No. 104971), a 2-year-old neutered male white-and-black domestic short-haired cat. This mellow cat loves to be petted, a shelter spokesperson said. Fees are charged for licensing and spaying or neutering, if necessary. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays (closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m. each day). For more information on how to adopt a pet, call (530) 668-5287 or visit http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CA283html (click on “our pet list is updated on an almost daily basis”).
