Local residents are invited to join AmeriCorps and the Watershed Stewards Project in planting a variety of vegetation along Putah Creek on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“By restoring the native vegetation along Putah Creek, we will help to enhance habitat for a variety of animals, both on land and in the water,” a news release said. “This is a great event for the whole family and is a fun opportunity to learn more about watershed health while spending time outside.”
Volunteers will be planting alder, willow and mule fat into pre-established holes. Snacks and warm drinks will be available.
Volunteers will be working along Putah Creek directly below the diversion dam on Putah Creek Road. Take Putah Creek Road west toward Lake Solano and enter the parking lot on the right side of the road. Signs will tell you where to park.
The event is sponsored by the Solano County Water Agency and the AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Project. Volunteers are invited to stay the whole time or help out for an hour or two.
