Play and learn workshops set at library

By From page A7 | February 01, 2013

The Stephens Branch Library in Davis will host a five-part parenting workshop series for children age 1-3 and their parents. The series will be held 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. on five Saturdays: Feb. 9, 16 and 23 and March 2 and 9. The library is at 315 E. 14th St.

Preschoolers and their caregivers will have the opportunity to play together with developmentally appropriate toys, learn together with children’s health and developmental resource guests, and get to know other parents in the community with like-aged children.

Dramatic play, music and art, gross and fine motor skills, as well as books and puppet play will be incorporated into the series. Presenters will include a nutritionist, preschool yoga instructor, child psychologist, a teacher of literature and literacy and a mystery presenter.

Due to the focus on young children, older siblings may not attend.

This workshops are sponsored by First 5 Yolo, Family Place Libraries and the Yolo County Library. They will take place in the library’s Activities Room, which is accessible for people with disabilities.

Admission is free, but registration is required and space is limited; contact Peggy Rollins at [email protected] or call 530-757-5593, ext. 4.
