Davis police arrested three teenagers Friday night in connection with an attempted robbery, according to Sgt. Frank Tenedora.

The incident occurred in Chestnut Park at about 10:55 p.m. when a male walking through the park was approached by a group of four males who demanded his belongings and started pushing and punching him. The victim ran off and contacted police, who searched the area and found a group of males in the area.

The victim was able to allegedly identify three of the group — 18-year-old Cairo A. Jones, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy — who were Davis residents.

Police took Jones to Yolo County Jail and the two juveniles were transported to Juvenile Hall.

Shortly after midnight Saturday morning, police received a report of a robbery that occurred at University Avenue and Second Street. Two suspects were reported to have beaten up a male victim and stolen his backpack, but the area was too dark to get a description of the clothing the two assailants were wearing, the victim said. He identified them only as black males.

The assailants were reported to have had no weapons. Police were unable to locate any suspects, according the city’s posted police log. More details were not available by press time.
