Davis police received a report Monday of a swastika spray-painted in a cement tunnel underneath F Street at Anderson Road.
The symbol was painted with black spray paint and was surrounded by a circle with a slash through it, Lt. Paul Doroshov said. It was unclear whether the cross-out mark was part of the original graffiti or was added later.
“At this point we really have no idea what this person was trying to say or imply by this,” Doroshov said. He added that police are holding off on calling the graffiti a hate incident “because of the confusion.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Davis Police Department at (530) 747-5400.
