Project Linus gears up for Snowball Express

By From page A8 | September 04, 2013

Project Linus of Yolo County, one of almost 400 chapters across the nation, will participate in the Snowball Express VIII to be held in December in Dallas. The local chapter hopes to send between 75 and 100 blankets and quilts for children who attend the Snowball Express activities.

Snowball Express (www.SnowballExpress.org) is an organization that provides a holiday vacation for the children of deceased service members. The organization flies children from all over the United States and, in some cases, outside of the U.S., to Dallas, where they meet other children in the same situation.

The children participate in activities together, and community members show their support and appreciation for the sacrifice these families have endured, a news release said.

The volunteers of Project Linus of Yolo County invite local residents to participate in this endeavor by contributing homemade quilted blankets, tied fleece blankets, knitted or crocheted blankets. Blankets need to be at least 40-by-60 inches, for girls and boys ages 5-18.
