Rabbi Michael Lerner to speak at Bet Haverim on May 1
Rabbi Michael Lerner will speak on “Embracing Israel/Palestine: The Rational Yet Visionary Path to Peace in the Middle East,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, in the Social Hall at Congregation Bet Haverim, 1715 Anderson Road, Davis.
Lerner is editor of Tikkun Magazine and author of the new book, “Embracing Israel/Palestine: A Strategy to Heal and Transform the Middle East.” He presents a proposal for two states at peace, but he argues that the first task is to heal the huge traumas that have been suffered by both Israelis and Palestinians.
This lecture and book signing is sponsored by Israel Peace Alternatives and Rabbi Greg Wolfe. Attendees will be invited to make a voluntary donation of $5 or more to support Lerner’s appearance, and his book will be available for sale for $15, cash or check.
