Khalid Saeed, national president of the American Muslim Voice Foundation, speaks to 25 Yolo County deputy district attorneys during the lunch hour on Thursday. The goal of the discussion, Saeed says, “was to educate the attorneys about Muslims and Islam. Not the Islam they watch on TV, but the true Islam from the Quran.” Saeed asked Deputy District Attorney Mike Vroman to read translations from the Quran about commandments about peace and war in the world, terrorism, women’s rights, freedom of religion and personal relationships. That was followed by a question-and-answer session. District Attorney Jeff Reisig asked Saeed to speak to his deputies about Islam to increase insight and raise sensitivity among his staff.
